Ranking All 30 NBA Franchises From 2000-01 to 2015-16 Using Advanced Analytics
According to the numbers, which franchises have been the best since the turn of the century?

Today, the most successful teams in the NBA aren't hard to spot. They've basically been the same for the last few seasons. First in line are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. Then, there's teams like the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets.

Like I said, that's today. What about yesterday and the years prior? Who's been the most dominant for a longer stretch? Which teams haven't enjoyed much success in recent years? Thankfully, we have advanced analytics to provide the answer.

Utilizing our very own nERD metric -- a ranking, on a scale of 0 to 100, that is predictive of a team's ultimate winning percentage -- in addition to four other commonly-used advanced statistics, I came up with a composite ranking for each of the 30 NBA teams and/or franchises.

I ranked the teams by their 16-year average (2000-2016) in nERD, offensive rating, defensive rating, net rating and effective field goal percentage. I then added up those rankings and sorted them from the lowest to highest number, with the worst franchises producing the highest composite ranking.

Now that you know how I determined which team is 30th, which is 1st and which others are in between, let's get to it!
