Jimmy Butler stands alone atop the list of best games of the New Year, as he produced 52 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and a block in 38 minutes of action last Monday night. But, it wasn't the 38 minutes or the 24 shot attempts that generated the gigantic night.
Rather it was a combination of two things: usage and efficiency. Absent Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade, Butler used 40% of his team's possessions. In doing that, Butler got to the line 22 times, making all but one of his attempts.
His excellent shooting and massive production boiled down to a nERD of 92.4 in the Bulls' 7-point win over the Charlotte Hornets. It's 28 points better than the next-closest performer from last week. Oh, and it made him the second Bull ever to have at least two 50-point games, joining one Michael Jordan, principal owner of the Hornets.
But it is kind of fun that @JimmyButler pulled a @Jumpman23 at @UnitedCenter to beat MJ's @hornets!
