FanDuel Price: $7,700
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There are several appealing point guard options, especially at the top end.
Stephen Curry is in what should easily be the most targeted game on the slate against the Houston Rockets. Kyle Lowry and Kemba Walker get a head-to-head matchup and both should see their fair share of ownership. Damian Lillard is beginning to round into form after an extended absence and gets a terrific matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. Jeff Teague is coming off of a big game and should be fairly popular against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Sitting just below all of them in price is Mike Conley, whose on matchup on paper is just average against the Sacramento Kings. With Jrue Holiday also below him in price and in the best possible situation for a point guard, against the Brooklyn Nets, Conley appears to be in no-man's land in terms of salary.
Why You Should Use Him:
Conley struggled a bit in his most recent game, but enjoyed quite the hot streak before that, averaging 41.9 FanDuel points in the six prior games.
Sacramento has been middle-of-the-pack against point guards from a fantasy perspective this season, allowing just the 16th-most FanDuel points to the position. However, their best defensive point guard, Ty Lawson, is questionable for tonight, meaning Conley could see a heavy dosage of Darren Collison's defense.
Collison ranks 79th among 86 qualified point guards in real defensive plus/minus. In the five games he's seen the most minutes this season, opposing point guards have averaged 21.6 points, 6.6 assists, and 5 rebounds. Most recently, Collison was seen being forced into 37 minutes and allowing a 47.9-FanDuel-point performance to Jeff Teague.
Regardless of Lawson's status, Conley is an appealing play. However, if we find out prior to lock that he is going to see 35-plus minutes of Darren Collison, Conley is close to a must-play.
