NBA
3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 2/7/17

Evan Fournier, SG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $5,600

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Evan Fournier's season has been marred by injury thus far, and he hasn't been able to get into a real groove when healthy. With the likes of Harden, C.J. McCollum, Nicolas Batum, Wesley Matthews, and potentially Sean Kilpatrick all likely to be on the radar of daily fantasy players at the shooting guard position, it'd be surprising to see Fournier carry high ownership.

Why You Should Use Him:

Fournier has been a bit shaky in his four games back from injury, but he has topped 30 minutes in three straight games, one of which yielded a 36-FanDuel-point performance. Fournier has shown the ability to be a big-time contributor when healthy, and given his current price tag, this appears to be an opportune time to invest.

The Orlando Magic are projected for 105.75 points tonight, which, in addition to being the third-highest total on the slate, is a six-point improvement from their season scoring average. They also are going to be forced to push the ball more against a Houston Rockets that loves to get into up-and-down games and ranks third in the league in pace.

The Rockets have given up the second-most points in transition this season, an area in which Fournier has thrived. He ranks second on the team in points per game in transition this season, and the numbers he put up in transition last year rivaled those of any player in the NBA.

Among players with at least 100 transition field goal attempts last season, none scored more points per possession than Fournier, and only LeBron James posted a higher effective field goal percentage than Fournier's ridiculous 72.9% mark.

Even in the halfcourt, Fournier should be able to produce against the individual defense of Harden. The Rockets have allowed the seventh-most FanDuel points per game to opposing shooting guards, and Harden has ranked 68th among shooting guards with a -1.26 DRPM.

There are safer options in cash games, but Fournier is a nice tourney play who has the upside to crush value in this matchup at this price tag.
