FanDuel Price: $6,600
Elfrid Payton has struggled a bit recently, which could certainly have something to do with the return of Evan Fournier. It's something to keep an eye on going forward and is enough to keep him out of cash-game consideration tonight. However, if looking for a tournament play at point guard or attempting a game stack, Payton's numbers in shootouts suggest he has some upside.
Payton's Magic, while being heavy underdogs, are projected for 105.75 points, which is the third-highest on the slate and six points above their season scoring average. In games with an implied team total of at least 105 points this season, Payton has averaged 30.5 FanDuel points, as opposed to 25.6 in all others.
He's also averaged 34.3 in the only three games he's played in with an over/under of at least 220 points this season. Even when there's an over/under of 210 or more, Payton has been much more productive than usual, averaging 30.8 FanDuel points.
Payton has led the Magic in transition scoring this season and should be one of the biggest benefactors of an up-tempo matchup against Houston, who plays at the third-fastest pace and has allowed the second-most points in transition. Given the projected game script, Payton is worth taking a shot on as a low-owned bounce-back candidate.
