3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 2/24/17
At first glance, a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks isn't anything to get excited about for Rudy Gobert, but he has unique upside on Friday.

Bobby Portis, PF, Chicago Bulls

FanDuel Price: $4,200

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Bobby Portis is presumably about to take on a larger role for the Chicago Bulls, but that is the case for many power forwards tonight, and the depth of the position may suppress his ownership, even at his bargain-bin price tag.

At the top end, Nikola Jokic finds himself in a terrific spot against the Brooklyn Nets. In the mid-range, Markieff Morris has enjoyed terrific production recently and should be popular against the Philadelphia 76ers. On the other side of the ball, Dario Saric is expected to take on a more prominent role for Philly and was on quite the hot streak prior to the All-Star break. Former 76er, Nerlens Noel, is expected to see his role expand for his new team, the Dallas Mavericks, and may gain some traction as a popular value play.

Why You Should Use Him:

Following the departure of Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott, 51.8 minutes and 18.1 shot attempts per game have been opened up in Chicago's frontcourt. With only one frontcourt player (Joffrey Lauvergne) being acquired by Chicago, it seems guaranteed that Portis will take on a much larger role going forward.

Per nbawowy.com, Portis has averaged 0.85 FanDuel points without Gibson and McDermott off the floor, as opposed to his season average of 0.78. He should have no problem taking advantage of his increased opportunity.

In addition to taking on a larger role, Portis should take advantage of a positive matchup against the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix ranks 27th in defensive efficiency, is the third-most frequently blocked team, and has allowed the sixth-most FanDuel points to opposing power forwards.

Everything adds up to the potential for a big game for Portis at a discounted price tag. If you can stomach the unknown that comes with rostering a player who has yet to accomplish anything at the NBA level, he is a viable play in all formats.
