3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 3/1/17

Kyle O'Quinn, C, New York Knicks

FanDuel Price: $4,700

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

While Kyle O'Quinn comes at quite a discount tonight, there are enough "sure-things" up top at the position that daily fantasy players might not feel the need to take a chance on O'Quinn's inconsistency. The likes of Hassan Whiteside, Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan, Nikola Vucevic, and Kosta Koufos all find themselves in good spots, which should keep O'Quinn's ownership subdued.

Why You Should Use Him:

O'Quinn's minutes have been very difficult to predict recently, with an average of just 17.3 minutes over his past 10 games. What has not been difficult to predict is his efficiency, as he has averaged a very impressive 1.24 FanDuel points per minute over that span. For reference, the next-highest fantasy-points-per-minute average on the New York Knicks during that span was Guillermo Hernangomez's 1.08 clip, per NBAwowy.com.

O'Quinn has shown the upside to crush salary when given minutes, with three performances of over 33 FanDuel points during that aforementioned 10-game stretch. With Joakim Noah out, Hernangomez unlikely to play and Kristaps Porzingis coming off of an injury, the Knicks might be forced to give O'Quinn minutes tonight. And, according to RotoGrinders' Court IQ, he should have no trouble being productive. With Noah, Hernangomez and Brandon Jennings off the floor this season, O'Quinn has led the Knicks with 1.26 FanDuel points per minute.

The matchup is terrific, too, as O'Quinn will get the Orlando Magic, who have really struggled against opposing post players this season. Orlando has allowed the eighth-most FanDuel points to the position, the highest points per possession in the post and ranks 25th in rebounding rate.

They also have been blocked the 10th-most times in the league, an area in which O'Quinn excels. He has averaged 2.7 blocks over his past six games, and his 3.2 blocks per-36 minutes ranks first in the NBA.

If Hernangomez indeed does end up sitting out, O'Quinn is a terrific play in all formats. If he decides to give it a go, O'Quinn is probably better suited to be a tournament-only play.
