In 1959, Chamberlain -- a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native -- was a territorial selection by the then-Philadelphia Warriors. Boy, did they ever luck out!
Not only did Wilt go on to become one of the best NBA players of all-time and the only one to score 100 points, but he also won Rookie of the Year honors while yielding .245 win shares per 48 minutes. He amassed a total of 17.0 win shares on a PER of 28.0 in 72 games.
Chamberlain's raw production was simply insane. The 7'1" center turned out 37.6 points, 27.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 46.4 minutes. His Warriors went on to win 49 games and advanced to the NBA Eastern Division Finals.
