Back in 2003, the Brooklyn Nets were then the New Jersey Nets. The 49-win team consisted of some really solid players in Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin, who made the Nets the league's most efficient defense with a rating of 98.1 points allowed per 100 possessions.

After earning their way to a 66.0 nERD, the Nets made a trip to the NBA Finals where they would eventually lose to the San Antonio Spurs in six games. And the franchise hasn't been back ever since.
