It may not be common for a 25-year-old former second-overall pick to be on his third team in five seasons, but Victor Oladipo hasn’t shown any signs of uninspired play in his new gig with the Indiana Pacers.
Oladipo’s early-season fantasy success derives from a combination of usage and scoring, and his average FanDuel salary of $7,425 makes him a worthy consideration on most nights.
His 30.5 percent usage rate is a career high, and it's the most we’ve seen him involved since his sophomore season with the Orlando Magic. He’s also taking more shots and cashing in on better than 50 percent from deep, making him a top-4 three-point shooter among those averaging at least five attempts per game.
And as a small bonus, Oladipo ranks top-20 in free throw attempts per game, helping to pad our lineups with an extra five points a night.
Given the Indiana Pacers are a top-5 offense matched with a defense that ranks in the bottom-third, there are beneficial situations presenting themselves with Oladipo on the slate.
Although his shooting is likely to regress, his scoring ability presents an upside, and if you can snag him at $7,500 or below, you’re usually going to return five-times value.
Oladipo and the Pacers will face the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, followed by the New York Knicks, New Orleans Pelicans, and Detroit Pistons next week.
