If you invested in Utah Jazz rookie stock, you’re currently elated with your returns. With Donovan Mitchell having been handed the keys in Salt Lake City, the rookie has emerged as one of the league's more exciting young players to watch.
Over the course of the past week, Mitchell has been a top-25 fantasy scorer at just under 40 FanDuel points per game, hitting at least five-times value in three of his last four and producing at an affordable average salary of $7,250.
Stretch out his current upswing a little further -- amongst personal achievements like the record for most points scored by a rookie in Jazz history, as well as the most three-pointers made by a rookie in his first 25 games in NBA history -- and it’s easy to see he's here to stay. His confidence leads to beneficial scoring opportunities on a team that relies on him, his energy provides production on defense (1.3 steals per game), and his headiness allows him to chip in other categories (3.3 assists per game).
Given the trajectory, we could see Mitchell’s salary close in on the $8,000 mark sooner rather than later, so it’s good to cash in now while the value is hot. And even after a salary increase, that's not to say Mitchell won't be worth shelling out for. He has all the tools of a versatile fantasy asset.
The Jazz travel to Milwaukee Saturday night before resting up for three days to take on the Bulls Wednesday in Chicago.
