According to Basketball-Reference, the Houston Rockets play at a pace (99.4 possessions per 48 minutes) that is, on average, 5.1 possessions higher than the San Antonio Spurs (94.3) this season. That tells us one of two things: either the Spurs will slow the Rockets down or the Rockets will speed up the Spurs. Given that tonight's game is in Houston, we should probably expect the latter. At home, Houston has forced a pace above their season average in seven of 13 games.
The Spurs' implied total of 102.5 points reflects what should a reasonably high-scoring affair. In fact, that total would be 1.4 points higher than San Antonio's average of 101.1 through 28 games.
It all points to Tony Parker being a value. While it's true that Parker is easing into things slowly as he comes back from an injury, his playing time increased to nearly 24 minutes last game, after two days off between games. And though the Spurs are on the front end of a back-to-back tonight, Parker will again take the floor with two days of rest, while he's almost certain to sit the second half of the two-game set. Point guard isn't the greatest place to go low, but with at least 18.5 FanDuel points in his last three Parker should be a safer option on the cheap.
