There may not be a whole lot of good things happening with the Memphis Grizzlies, but Tyreke Evans is doing his very best to convince you otherwise.
Evans leads the Grizzlies as both a scorer (19 points per game) and facilitator (4.4 assists per game), while ranking third in rebounding (5.1 rebounds per game) and second in steals (1.0 steals per game). He’s somehow still only 28 years old, his knees are apparently not an issue (at least for the time being), and he’s been quite the holiday bargain for the better part of the last month.
Granted, a salary above $8,000 feels a bit steep and may incite some anxiety, but over the course of his last 10 games, Evans has missed at least four-times value only once, while achieving at least five-times value on six different occasions. He’s even surprised us with 53- and 61-point FanDuel performances by way of spontaneous, yet still kind of on-brand Tyreke-ish 29-13-5 and 30-7-11 stat lines.
You don’t need anyone to convince you to tread cautiously with a player like Evans, but it’s an enjoyable stretch at the moment. Trailing only Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, Evans has hung an impressive 228 FanDuel points over the last seven days.
The Grizzlies are set for a three-game road trip that begins against the Warriors tomorrow night, followed by the Kings and Clippers next week.
