DraftKings Salary: $5,500
Jaylen Brown already would have been in play based on his diminished price point (he comes into this $900 cheaper than he was listed at last week), but injuries to Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier make him especially appealing. Smart is out for the foreseeable future, while Rozier missed shootaround this morning and reportedly is 50-50 for tonight's game.
If both guards are out, it would likely mean a large boost in playing time for Shane Larkin ($3,400), who is someone you could chase if you're into dudes who average 0.67 DraftKings points per minute. The biggest fantasy implication of a banged-up Boston Celtics backcourt would likely be Brown's minutes being set in stone. He's dipped below 30 minutes in two of his past three games, but if both Smart and Rozier sit, it is tough to envision Brown not seeing 30-plus minutes of court time.
Brown is averaging 0.80 DraftKings points per minute in January and 0.84 on the year, so he's going to need roughly 33 minutes to reach five-times his salary-based expectations (27.5 DraftKings points). That seems quite realistic given the state of Boston's depth chart at the guard position. We've already seen Brown go for 41.75 DraftKings points against the Denver Nuggets this season, and another big performance could be in the cards.
