Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
Anthony Davis finished the 2017-18 season as the top-ranked player in both nine-category and eight-category leagues. In other words, regardless of the format of your fantasy hoops league, there's a really good chance that Davis was the most valuable player in it.
On the year, he averaged 28.1 points, 0.7 three-pointers, 11.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals, 2.6 blocks, and 2.2 turnovers in 36.4 minutes per game, while shooting 53.4% from the field and 82.8% from the free throw line. That's above-average-to-elite contributions in every standard fantasy category outside of threes and assists, and he gave you more than most guys his size and position in those categories to boot.
Most importantly, he finished the year with a career-high 75 games played for the second consecutive season. Injury concerns have always made people hesitate on picking Davis early in the first round -- he had an average draft position (ADP) of 7.0 across the industry this season, according to FantasyPros.com, despite ended the year ranked second, fifth, first, and second on average over the last four seasons -- but he might finally be shaking the injury-prone tag and making a case to be next year's first overall pick.
Honorable Mention: James Harden (Houston Rockets), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves), Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
