Why This Is Bold: Everyone's incredibly high on Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid this year, as evidenced by their respective ADPs of 12.3 and 14.3. Robert Covington, on the other hand, has an ADP around 93.0 for some reason.
Why This Will Happen: Simmons and Embiid are young superstars with seemingly infinite ceilings, but there are still holes in their games for now.
Simmons doesn't shoot threes, only scores a moderate amount of points on a given night, and racks up turnovers and missed free throws at a rate high enough to damage your fantasy squad. For what Embiid gives you in points, rebounds, and blocks, he takes away from you in a low free throw percentage and high frequency of turnovers.
Covington, in the meantime, gives you elite threes and steals and doesn't really hurt you anywhere outside of field goal percentage. Over the last two months of last season, you might be surprised to learn that Covington ranked 21st overall in nine-category leagues, while Simmons (30th) and Embiid (46th) lagged behind.
We could see a similar trend hold up for the entire season this time.
