It may not be the most reliable of plays, but in those situations you’re looking to finish out a lineup with minimal salary remaining, a guy like Marvin Williams can offer decent value on a given night.
Williams offers two things: scoring potential and rebounding. Although he’s shooting just 41 percent from the field this season, the potential is there in terms of volume, as he averages nearly five heaves from three per game. We’ve also seen his potential as double-double candidate given double-digit rebounding totals in two of his last three games.
Again, Williams isn’t necessarily a trusted strategy, but you could do worse with your spare change. Readily available for less than $5,000, Williams has reached at least six-times value in five of his last eight games, but has also thrown out a couple of single-digit scoring duds over the same span.
Williams and the Hornets take on the Knicks tonight, followed by games against the Lakers and Cavaliers next week.
