Facing the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics will be taking it easy and resting their superstar Kyrie Irving due to “illness.” His absence opens up a spot in the starting lineup for presumably Terry Rozier -- a decent value option with a salary of $4,500 -- but also frees up some playing time and scoring responsibility for fellow guard Jaylen Brown, who is $200 cheaper on Wednesday.
In the last four games Irving has sat out, Brown scored at least 19 points three times while averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 28.4 minutes per game. He finished with three games of 30-plus FanDuel points while averaging 31.1 per game. The matchup on Wednesday is favorable for Brown as well.
The Cavs own the worst defensive rating in the NBA (117.9) and allow opponents to shoot a league-best 49.3% from the field and 37.1% from three. Shooting guards, in particular, excel against Cleveland, scoring 0.88 FanDuel points per minute, a top-10 rate in the league this season.
