NBA Playoff Race Update: Do the Los Angeles Lakers Stand a Chance of Making the Postseason?
Will LeBron James miss the playoffs for the first time since 2005? We try to answer that question and more as we break down the playoff probabilities of all 30 NBA teams.

Eastern Conference - Bubble Teams

(6) Brooklyn Nets (30-30, 79.0%)
(7) Charlotte Hornets (27-30, 67.8%)
(8) Detroit Pistons (26-30, 49.0%)
(9) Orlando Magic (27-32, 47.4%)
(10) Miami Heat (26-31, 45.4%)
(11) Washington Wizards (24-34, 11.4%)

Only two and a half games separate the 6th-place Nets and 10th-place Heat, so the battle for the last three playoff spots in the Eastern Conference should be fairly intriguing down the stretch run.

The Nets are in the driver's seat among these middling squads, as they're the only team here that's actually at .500, and their 79.0% odds of making the postseason reflect that. The Hornets also have a fairly good chance of making it at 67.8%, then it's a fairly tight race between the Pistons (49.0%), Magic (47.4%), and Heat (45.4%) for the last spot.

The Wizards are still technically in the hunt, but they're the longest shot of the bunch at 11.4%, and it would take quite the run for them to leapfrog three to five teams to make it.
