The Golden State Warriors are following the popular NBA trend and sitting out DeMarcus Cousins on Wednesday for “load management.” With the All-Star center sitting out, Kevon Looney likely moves back into a familiar role as the Warriors' starting center.
The 6’9” Looney has made 23 starts this season, averaging 6.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 23.4 minutes per game. He finished with an average of 21.9 FanDuel points in those 23 contests for a stable rate of 0.94 FanDuel points per minute. Costing just the minimum on Wednesday, Looney would need to play just 18.6 minutes to reach 5.0 FanDuel points per $1,000 of salary. In his 23 starts, Looney has failed to play at least 19 minutes only four times.
Even with a difficult matchup ahead of him versus the Miami Heat, the Dubs own the sixth-highest implied point total of the 22 teams in action Wednesday. That makes Looney and his minuscule salary worth a punt play in DFS.
