While Joel Embiid may be back, Jimmy Butler will get the day off to rest, so there is still plenty of extra work to go around for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Ben Simmons' recent numbers already capture that he's been playing sans Embiid since the All-Star break, and he actually gets an even bigger bump without Butler. Since November 14, when Butler made his debut in Philly, Simmons has seen a jump from a 22.0% usage rate and 1.20 FanDuel points per minute with Butler on the floor to a 26.7% usage rate and 1.30 FanDuel points per minute with Butler off.
He's also seen his minutes rise without Butler in that time, going from 34.6 to 35.4. That's a small increase, but when combined with a bump in efficiency, it's enough to help bolster both Simmons' floor and ceiling.
Simmons also draws a great matchup tonight, taking on a Cleveland Cavaliers team that ranks dead-last in defensive rating this season. The Cavs are allowing the second-most FanDuel points per minute to opposing point guards.
