Burning Questions: Who Has Been the MVP of the NBA So Far This Season?
This is shaping up to be one of the closest and most interesting MVP races in NBA history. Our hoops writers weigh in on the candidates.

Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers

Melissa Rohlin and yours truly. On the season, the Clipper point man is averaging 18.4 points, 10.1 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. And just take a look at how he ranks in these efficiency categories:

CP3's numbers may be impressive, but that alone doesn't make him the MVP I believe him to be. Without sidekick Blake Griffin for the last 14 games, Paul is averaging an outstanding 21.2 points and 12.3 assists per game -- and the Clippers are winning. They're 9-5 in that 14-game span and have moved up to number two in our power rankings with Griffin's absence.

Now I know Chris Paul won't win the MVP, but he should. He has fallen victim to his own consistent success over the course of his career. I'm just saying if there's ever been a year that he's deserved it, it's this one.
