2015 NBA Draft Lottery: Best, Worst, and Most Surprising Picks
Was Justise Winslow a steal at 10th overall? And which picks may not be good fits?

Most Surprising Riser

Willie Cauley-Stein, Sacramento Kings, 6th Overall

No one doubts WCS’ talent as a defender. As a seven-footer, he’s shown an ability to guard everyone on the floor, which is a major plus in today’s NBA.

The Kings, though, have chosen a string of big men early on in the draft, and they -- at least for now -- have low-post behemoth DeMarcus Cousins. The Kings could have used a shooter to improve upon their 19th-best Effective Field Goal Percentage from last year (weighted twos and threes) and their 20.4 percent three-point attempt frequency, which ranked 28th the league.

Cauley-Stein might be a revolutionary defender, but he has no offensive game to speak of, and if Cousins is going to be in town -- which the Kings keep saying he will be -- the fit, even with a fellow Wildcat, doesn’t make a ton of sense.
