3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/17/17
Goran Dragic is up against Patrick Beverley in a matchup you're better off avoiding in NBA DFS contests. Who else should you be avoiding on Tuesday?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Goran Dragic, PG, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $6,700

Goran Dragic has a few things working against him tonight, but the big one is his matchup with Patrick Beverley.

Beverley and the Houston Rockets are holding point guards to 0.87 FanDuel points per minute, while Beverley is holding players he defends to 43.6% shooting from the field, including 33.1% from deep.

Dragic has also had to watch Tyler Johnson put up some big numbers recently, which can take away from his usage. Johnson is averaging 29.9 FanDuel points over his last five games, while Dragic is averaging 29.2 over that same span.

Andrew Wiggins, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $6,500

Andrew Wiggins has been heating up since the calendar turned to January, but he is going to be hard-pressed to reach value against Kawhi Leonard on Tuesday night.

Leonard is holding opposing small forwards to 43.7% shooting from the floor and 34.5% from three-point range. This has led to the San Antonio Spurs limiting the position to just 0.72 FanDuel points per minute.

Wiggins has faced off against Leonard seven times in his young career and hasn't faired well -- he's shooting 36.4% from the floor and has scored more than 30 FanDuel points in just one of those matchups.

Ryan Anderson, PF, Houston Rockets

FanDuel Price: $5,000

Ryan Anderson can be a great tournament option on most nights. He has a super-high ceiling, but his floor is also very low. He may trend more towards that low floor in a tough battle on Tuesday with James Johnson, though.

Johnson is having a breakout season with the Miami Heat and after being undervalued at most stops during his career, his defense is getting him consistent playing time, limiting opposing players to a 39.5% success rate from the field. While he struggles defending the perimeter, Johnson is big and quick enough to stay in front of Anderson, making him a tough target even on tonight's short slate.
