In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?
Clint Capela, C, Houston Rockets
FanDuel Price: $7,800
Clint Capela is coming off a huge double-double on Tuesday night, but he and the Houston Rockets are playing the second night of a back-to-back Wednesday against the Miami Heat. It also doesn't help that Capela's matchup against Hassan Whiteside is one that could give him some issues playing on no rest.
The Heat are holding opposing centers to the fourth-fewest FanDuel points per minute according to our DvP Matchup Chart, and in their first meeting this season, Capela put up fewer than 30 FanDuel points. Considering Whiteside is holding players he defends to 46.4% shooting this season, Capela is a tough player to target after playing Tuesday night.
Tyler Ulis, PG, Phoenix Suns
FanDuel Price: $4,400
Tyler Ulis saw 30 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, and despite the attractive price tag, he's a player to avoid as he gets set to play the San Antonio Spurs on no rest.
The Spurs have been solid against point guards this season, holding them to 0.83 FanDuel points per minute. Considering Ulis is averaging just 0.68 FanDuel points per minute over his last four games, he likely can't be trusted -- even at home.
Jae Crowder, PF, Cleveland Cavaliers
FanDuel Price: $4,000
Jae Crowder is another landmine on the second half of a back-to-back. After the Cleveland Cavaliers' horrible collapse against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, Crowder and the Cavs have a much tougher game tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Wolves and Taj Gibson have been very good against power forwards, limiting them to 0.86 FanDuel points per minute this season. With Gibson holding players he defends at the position to just 45.1% shooting, Crowder is not a player you'll want to target.
