One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.
Matisse Thybulle, SF, Philadelphia 76ers ($3,700)
With only four games on the slate, we need to be looking at some secondary role players for value tonight.
With Josh Richardson out for the Philadelphia 76ers, Furkan Korkmaz has entered the starting lineup as the shooting guard, but he has been rather disappointing. Korkmaz has played 20 minutes or more in four straight games but has posted 18 FanDuel points in his best game. Under one fantasy per minute is fine as a value option, but it's not when he is under 10 FanDuel points in two of these four games.
In Monday's game against the Utah Jazz, Matisse Thybulle started the second half ahead of Korkmaz and was able to post 21.2 FanDuel points in 25 minutes. That is strong for a bench player, and it also has him exceeding 5x salary-based value.
Damyean Dotson, SG, New York Knicks ($3,800)
Nothing says a small slate like looking at the New York Knicks for value players.
The Knicks have been without Marcus Morris and Frank Ntilikina for a few games now, which has, in turn, shifted their rotation. In these past two games, Damyean Dotson has played 28 and 31 minutes, posting double-digit real points in each game, and he is still under $4K tonight. He has also totaled 16 field goal attempts in those two games, 11 of which are three-point attempts.
If he isn't going to be filling in the rest of the stat sheet, he has to get it done from a pure scoring standpoint in order to reach value. The matchup against the Denver Nuggets isn't amazing by any means, but there aren't many sub-$4K players tonight who come off the bench and shoot with this type of volume.
Cheick Diallo, PF, Phoenix Suns ($3,600)
The Phoenix Suns are on the second night of a back-to-back, and their injury situation is up in the air.
Center Aron Baynes has missed their two most recent games. In that time, we have seen Frank Kaminsky become the starting center and Cheick Diallo be an option off the bench. Baynes is listed as questionable for tonight's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
If Baynes does play tonight, Diallo likely won't be of any value. If Baynes is out, this is a great spot to attack since we have an over/under set at 235.5 points -- which is the highest on the slate. It also helps that the Pelicans are allowing 46.9 FanDuel points per game to power forwards this season, the ninth-most in the league.
Both teams are also top-11 or higher when it comes to pace, setting us up for a high-scoring and fantasy-friendly environment.
