3 NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Friday 3/12/21

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball. Here we'll focus on utilizing our projections and a slew of other tools to help make money betting player props.

For this article, we are using the odds provided at Online Sportsbook to pinpoint spots where value can be had tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our player projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Derrick White Over 2.5 Rebounds (-162)

Derrick White and the San Antonio Spurs are up against the Orlando Magic. Orlando has allowed opposing point guards to snag 7.1 boards per game, which is tied for the fifth-most in the NBA. That puts White and Dejounte Murray in a good spot to do some work on the glass, but Murray's rebounds prop is set at 7.5. White's is much more appealing.

Admittedly, White isn't an active rebounder. He hasn't pulled down more than two boards in any of his nine games this season. What he has going for him, though, is minutes as he's logged 26 and 27 minutes across his past two. That's up from his season-long average of 24 minutes as he works his way back from a delayed start to the season.

Our model projects White for a big night, which includes a forecast of 33 minutes and 2.7 rebounds. I like siding with the over here due to White's playing time and Orlando's propensity for giving up rebounds to guards.

Steven Adams Under 8.5 Points (-132)

There's a lot to like about the under on Steven Adams' points prop.

Adams is averaging 8.2 points per game for the campaign, and while he's scored 13 and 15 in his past two games, Adams had gone for nine-plus points in only one of his seven games before that.

The matchup is a tough one, too. The Cleveland Cavaliers are permitting just 18.9 points per game to centers this season, the third-fewest.

We project Adams for 7.5 points tonight.

Doug McDermott Under 12.5 Points (-122)

I'm hitting you with all the big names today.

Doug McDermott has a date tonight with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers' D isn't the same sans Anthony Davis, but it's still first overall for the season -- by a good margin -- in defensive efficiency. And it is a defense that has clamped down on small forwards, surrendering just 18.5 points per game to the position, the third-fewest.

Also working against McDermott is that the Lakers are good at preventing three-point tries, giving up a three-point attempt rate of just 37.3%, the eighth-lowest. McDermott gets 36.3% of his 13.2 points per game from beyond the arc.

Our projections have McDermott totaling 11.7 points, steering us in the direction of the under on his points prop. His made triples prop is a little riskier as the line is at 1.5 and is -130 on the under.
