Since it's much simpler to predict than baseball or football, basketball daily fantasy would get plenty of votes as the best sport to play on FanDuel. Players usually stick to the same minutes and produce at roughly the same rate. Sounds easy, right?

Well, as a result, NBA daily fantasy is extremely reliant on a player's opportunity, so you'll need to make sure that you're up-to-date with key injuries. Our projections update up until tip-off to reflect current news, we have player news updates, and the FanDuel Scout app will send push notifications for pressing updates regarding your players.

With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a bunch of other great resources to help give you an edge.

We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each position.

Let's break down today's main slate on FanDuel.

The Slate and Key Injuries

It's Halloween, it's flu season, and we see that on the official injury report as a frightening number of players are listed with an illness.

That starts with Ja Morant as Memphis heads to Utah. Morant's teammate Jake LaRavia is also questionable due to an illness, and both Walker Kessler and Rudy Gay could sit for the Jazz due to the same reason. Desmond Bane (ankle) is also questionable here.

Joel Embiid is on the illness list, as well. Philadelphia is in D.C. to battle the Wizards.

Terry Rozier (ankle) and Cody Martin (quad) are both doubtful again for the Hornets as they host the Sacramento Kings.

A key game on the slate is Milwaukee's clash with Detroit, and it's mostly healthy outside of Jalen Duren, who left Sunday's game due to an ankle injury. His status is up in the air.

Finally, in the nightcap, the Clippers are expected to rest Kawhi Leonard (unknown) and John Wall (back-to-back). Robert Covington (illness) is closer to doubtful for them. On the other side, Eric Gordon (groin) should return for Houston after getting last night off. Watch Jabari Smith (ankle), as well.

Guards

There aren't a lot of true quality value plays on this slate. Reggie Jackson ($4,800) is one of them.

Jackson's workload will be unquestioned as Wall sits, and he's averaged 24.0 FanDuel points per game in his two contests this year with 30-plus minutes. He's on his way to losing that job, but we can roster him tonight.

At the top, I do have interest in Ja Morant ($9,900) if he plays. At a four-digit salary, this is a good matchup given the Jazz are second in overall pace. Of course, if he's not cleared, there will be a mad dash toward Tyus Jones ($6,100), but he's just acceptable there at a salary that matches his overall output (0.95 FanDuel points per minute) last season.

Regardless of Morant, Tyrese Haliburton ($8,700) is the best way to spend salary up here against Brooklyn's league-worst 121.6 defensive rating. I can't see blowout risk with how many easy baskets they give up.

Another interesting way to spend is Dejounte Murray ($8,900). I'll likely approach this Hawks tandem like a star NFL receiving duo with similar work -- roster the best salary. That's Murray versus Trae Young ($10,100) at the moment, and Dejounte (1.23 FanDuel points per minute) should bloom on a night when Young's shot is cold. It just hasn't been the past week.

Jalen Green ($6,200) has seen a salary dip due to his 24.3% shooting over the weekend, but it'll turn around soon. He's still one of numberFire's top projected guards of the day with Dennis Smith ($6,800), Jordan Clarkson ($6,400), and Jaden Ivey ($6,000).

Wings

The lone source of true Grizzlies value if Morant sits is Dillon Brooks ($5,700).

Brooks' 30-point game in Morant's stead shouldn't be a surprise. His 29.8% usage rate without Morant last year was the highest among active Memphis players. If he plays, Desmond Bane ($7,900) is fine, but he doesn't stuff a lot of categories for monstrous upside at his salary -- even on a hot scoring night.

The 13-point spread in Milwaukee is a massive fork in the road on this slate. Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000) has a sublime matchup with the lowly Pistons, but he may have just three quarters to work. I'll likely sprinkle in Giannis with Detroit value pieces in fear of missing out.

There are viable alternatives, too. Kevin Durant ($10,000) has his usual salary in a matchup with Indiana's fourth-worst defense rating. There's really no such thing as too much of this fantasy funhouse, so come on down Buddy Hield ($6,200), Bennedict Mathurin ($6,100), Ben Simmons ($5,800), and Royce O'Neale ($4,800).

Paul George ($8,200) has a desirable salary, but he's not been himself in two blowout losses since returning from illness. He's still numberFire's best-projected forward over $8,000.

In the value range, George's teammates Norman Powell ($4,300) and Terance Mann ($4,000) still get shouts with Marcus Morris back, but Robert Covington is likely to sit. Other top-projected budget options are Kelly Oubre ($6,300), Keegan Murray ($5,500), and Saddiq Bey ($5,300).

Bigs

If Joel Embiid ($9,600) sits, the Sixers' center spot isn't quite as plug-and-play as it was last year.

De'Anthony Melton moved into the starting lineup, P.J. Tucker shifted to the five, Montrezl Harrell played a little off the bench, and no one did much of anything. I just see it now as a massive boost to James Harden ($9,300), who has a low salary after a scorching weekend for Tyrese Maxey ($7,000).

This slate really doesn't have a ton to offer at the very top. Pascal Siakam ($9,400) is viable at his salary, but he's also failed to eclipse 50 FanDuel points during his large amount of minutes in three straight.

The best per-dollar bigs carry some minute risks. Domantas Sabonis ($7,700) will face a Charlotte squad surrendering the league's most paint points per game (58.3), but he's played 22 minutes or fewer in two of his last three. Kristaps Porzingis ($7,100) also hasn't eclipsed 30 minutes in three straight. Either could smash given the court time in their matchups.

As you'd guess, I love Myles Turner ($6,800) in that Brooklyn-Indiana contest after a day off to rest his ankle.

Steven Adams ($5,100) is projecting well, but beware. He's dropped to 23 minutes or fewer in four of his last five games. Our 27.9-minute projection seems a bit bullish.

However, I'm good with plenty of the big guys popping in the model today, including Kelly Olynyk ($6,100), PJ Washington ($6,000), Jabari Smith ($5,800), and Isaiah Stewart ($5,600), who should see plenty of burn if Duran sits with his ankle issue.
