Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Jimmy Butler is expected to be on the opening day roster to start the 2018-19 season.
Minnesota has not yet found a trade partner for Butler and is preparing to move forward with Butler on their roster. The veteran swingman re-iterated his desire to be traded on Monday to head coach Tom Thibadeau, but a deal does not appear to be imminent. Butler still has not reported to the team and does not plan to either. Expect this situation to drag on unless the T-Wolves lower their trade demands.
Our models project as a top-15 fantasy option with 23.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Of course, those projections are based on the assumption Butler is on the Wolves and plays 37.1 minutes per game.
