The Miami Heat are trading center Dewayne Dedmon and a 2028 second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for cash considerations.
The Heat will move $5 million below the luxury tax line after the deal is finalized. Dedmon provided quality bench minutes for Miami earlier in the season, but he fell out of the rotation last month following an altercation on the bench. The Spurs are in rebuild mode and have a quartet of young centers with Jakob Poeltl, Zach Collins, Isaiah Roby, and Charles Bassey, so the 33-year-old Dedmon might not be in San Antonio for long. His departure from the Heat could guarantee more work for Haywood Highsmith and Orlando Robinson over the second half of the season.
Dedmon averaged 12.3 FanDuel points in 11.7 minutes per game for the Heat this season.
