Joel Embiid J. Embiid

Joel Embiid (foot) expected back Thursday for 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (left foot soreness) is probable for Thursday versus the Dallas Mavericks.

What It Means:

Embiid is set to return for the second leg of the 76ers' back-to-back after being held out Wednesday versus the Miami Heat. Tyrese Maxey will likely move back to the second unit and there will be fewer minutes available for Paul Reed. Embiid's return also means reduced roles on offense for James Harden, Tobias Harris, and De'Anthony Melton.

The Mavericks have a 121.2 offensive rating and 117.6 defensive rating since acquiring Kyrie Irving last month, and they allowed the most paint points per game (59.5) in February across the NBA, so Embiid has a promising matchup on Thursday. He has the second-highest salary ($11,800) and is numberFire's second-highest projected scorer (54.9 FanDuel points) on the four-game slate.
