The Memphis Grizzlies announced that star point guard Ja Morant will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.
Morant suffered a shoulder injury during a Grizzlies' training session, which ended up being worse than initially believed. The guard, who had just returned from the lengthy suspension he had served to open the season, will now look towards the 2024-25 season.
Morant played in 9 games this season, averaging 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. Luke Kennard stepped into the lineup to fill in for Morant in the Grizzlies' last game and could maintain a starting role going forward.
