Joel Embiid J. Embiid

76ers' Joel Embiid (left knee) out indefinitely

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has some swelling in his left knee and is out indefinitely.

What It Means:

Embiid will receive an MRI on Monday, so hopefully some sort of timetable will be available after that. He was already ruled out until at least March 3, but this greatly increases the chances of the 76ers shutting him down completely for the rest of the season. Jahlil Okafor and Richaun Holmes just gained a lot more value going forward. Embiid's 36.1 percent usage rate would be third in the NBA among qualified players.

Through his first 31 NBA games, Embiid is averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, 2.5 blocks and 1.2 3-pointers per contest in only 25.4 minutes per game. His 0.8 nERD this season ranks just outside of the NBA's top-100 players and is tied with Holmes for first on the 76ers.
