Free agent guard/forward Gordon Hayward, formerly of the Utah Jazz, announced that he will be joining the Boston Celtics.
Hayward penned a lengthy piece for the Players' Tribune that explained part of the reason for choosing the Celtics is due to "unfinished business" with head coach Brad Stevens after their heart-breaking loss to the Duke Blue Devils in the NCAA finals while they were at Butler together. The deal is a $128 million maximum contract for four years.
In his first All-Star campaign, Hayward averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.0 3-pointers during the 2016-17 season. His 12.0 nERD would have ranked second on the Celtics behind Isaiah Thomas.
