College Basketball: The 10 Most Unlikely Final Four Teams Since 2000
By the numbers, which teams put together the worst regular season performances before making a run to the Final Four?

1. 2011 VCU Rams

That VCU team that lost to Butler was the same one so unlikely to accomplish all they accomplished. As a member of the Colonial Conference, the Rams were just 28-12 with a nERD of 8.20. Wins over UCLA, Wake Forest, Wichita State and George Mason aided them in obtaining an 11 seed in the Big Dance.

Once there, it was like the Rams were a different team. We saw coach Shaka Smart's Havoc full-court defense press teams into turnovers while the offense hosted four double-figure scorers.

They bested five power conference teams, including a 2-seeded Kansas team in the Elite Eight. Yet, after overtaking the Morris twins, the Rams fell short against their fellow mid-major Butler Bulldogs.
