As we head back to the South, we see another mid-major team poised to advance out of their 5-12 matchup. That is the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, a team who will meet the Minnesota Golden Gophers later today. One of the big factors in this potential upset game could be tweener, Jacorey Williams.
Williams is currently a 6'8" senior forward for the Blue Raiders, but he, much like the aforementioned Goodwin, had played in a major conference prior to transferring this past year. He averaged 16.2 minutes in his last year at Arkansas, which could only be an added benefit for a player of his caliber.
This season with the Raiders, Williams has led the team with 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He shoots 54.1% from the field with a player efficiency rating of 26.5. His 5.3 total win shares have helped Middle Tennessee to 30 wins, and maybe a couple more if the shoe fits.
