March Madness: Ranking the 9 Upsets From the First Weekend
Sindarius Thornwell and South Carolina shocked Duke in one of the opening week's biggest upsets. According to our numbers, where does it fall among the tourney's biggest upsets through the first weekend?

7. 12 Middle Tennessee 81, 5 Minnesota 72

Our third upset of the first round that was not really an upset was Middle Tennessee's convincing victory over Minnesota. The Blue Raiders' win probability entering Thursday's game was 52.55 percent, but Minnesota was the highest-seeded team and only 5 seed to go down in the first round.

Minnesota actually jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and swung the win probability in their favor to 69 percent. But from that point forward, Middle Tennessee close the gap, took the lead, and never looked back. The Golden Gophers cut a 17-point deficit to only 6 with five minutes left, but Middle Tennessee was able to close out the upset.
