March Madness: The Top 10 Individual Performances of the Opening Weekend
These 10 players gave the best individual performances of the NCAA Tournament's first two rounds.

1. Jeff Dowtin, Rhode Island

Round of 64 vs. Creighton
nERD: 63.35
23 points, 5 rebounds

Easily the most surprising name on this list, the freshman guard came into the NCAA Tournament averaging 4.9 points per game while shooting 40.0% from the field.

He broke out in a big way in Rhode Island's (nominal) upset win over 6 seed Creighton, scoring 23 points on just 8 field goal attempts. Dowtin made 6 of his shots from the field (including 1 of 2 three-point shots), while also making all 10 of his free throw attempts.

Unfortunately for the Rams, he could not duplicate the magic in their second-round game against Oregon, as he scored just 5 points and had a -10.81 nERD rating.

Still, this does not erase his ultra-efficient performance from the first round, one that should make URI fans optimistic about the youngster's future.
