Historical Comp: 2015 Duke Blue Devils, 35-4, 1 seed, National Champions
Villanova is currently ranked number-one and is the only team on this list that compares to a team that won the National Championship. The true reason for this comp is the Wildcats' second-ranked offense to go along with a defense that falls just inside the top 30. Additionally, the Wildcats' mix of upperclassmen with big-game experience and solid freshmen is very similar to that of the 2015 Blue Devils.
A big part of what makes Villanova so efficient is their impeccable shooting percentages. The Wildcats as a team shoot a touch better than 51 percent from the field -- good for fifth in the nation and helping them rank in the top 10 in points per game despite being outside the top 75 in pace. Of their usual rotation players, eight of nine shoot greater 46 percent from the field. Just as impressive, Villanova does not have anybody shooting under 40 percent from three amongst their five players who attempt at least three per game.
Jalen Brunson has been flying under the radar as one of the most efficient scorers in the country, averaging 19.4 points per game while shooting 59 percent from the field and 49 percent from three.
