NCAA Tournament: Which Teams Could Be Seeded Too Low on Selection Sunday?
Once again, advanced metrics love Gonzaga, and the Zags could be massively under-seeded in March. Which other teams are being overlooked?

Wichita State Shockers

nF Rating: 16

nF Projected Seed: 6

Bracket Matrix Projected Seed: 6

The committee will presumably ding the Shockers for their 1-3 record against the RPI Top 50, but the picture looks a lot brighter when we also consider the other 20 games they have played.

Only seven teams have outscored their opponents by more than Wichita State’s 14.2 points per game. Their wins have mostly been big while three of their five losses were by five points or fewer (including a one-point neutral court loss to Notre Dame, when the Irish we close to full strength, and a two-point overtime loss at Temple).

All but one of the Shockers' 19 wins have come by at least seven points and 16 of them have come by a double-digit margin. These games have come against KenPom's 91st-most difficult schedule, and the predictive metrics imply they deserve somewhat better than the 6 seed they appear headed toward.
