Ranking the 5 Best Conferences in College Basketball
Which conference is best from top-to-bottom in the nation?

SEC

Average Team nERD: 8.36

The SEC rounds out the top five as one of the best conferences in the nation. It may have a win percentage of just 61.5%, but its nERD of 8.36 trails the Big Ten by just over half a point.

As average as the SEC offenses are, based on our metrics, its defenses are really solid.

This, of course, has a lot to do with Kentucky's number-one ranked defense (100%). However, the SEC boasts four other defenses better than 82% of schools in the country.

Despite the SEC's poor offenses, it has six teams in our top 50 and, according to our metrics, five teams bound for the tournament. Along with the number-one Wildcats, our numbers like Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss to go dancing come March.
