Did Any of This Year's First Four Out Teams Deserve to Make the NCAA Tournament?
Should any of the first four out teams be dancing?

Old Dominion Monarchs

As much of an argument as Temple has, Old Dominion might have a better one. In my opinion, and according to the numbers, they should be in the dance.

The Monarchs only flaw is their strength of schedule, which ranks 137th in the nation. That's no surprise as Old Dominion is a member of Conference USA, in which they finished second with a record of 13-5. That doesn't mean the Monarchs haven't beaten anybody this year though. They have wins over two NCAA tournament teams -- VCU and LSU -- and finished 2-0 against the RPI Top 50 and 5-2 against the RPI Top 100.

However, the Monarchs are much more than just a nice looking resume. While they rank 60th in BPI, 63rd in nERD and 81st in offensive efficiency, Old Dominion's best feature is its defense. The Monarchs' defense finished 16th in the country and was a vital part to their success this season.

So what gives?
