Fantasy Football: 6 Historical Vegas Trends You Should Know for Week 1
What do the odds say about Week 1 for certain players, and how can your fantasy teams benefit?

Start Steven Hauschka as a Double-Digit Favorite

numberFire's Jim Sannes wrote a fantastic article in January on how kickers performed based on measures such as Vegas spreads, implied totals, and favorites versus underdogs. Based on his findings, we need to target kickers on teams that are heavily favored, with implied team total as the tiebreaker.

The best Week 1 option is definitely Steven Hauschka. The Seattle Seahawks are playing at home where they have been heavily favored for the past few years. Week 1 is no different, as they are the biggest favorite on the board, projected to beat the Miami Dolphins by 10.5 points. Recent kickers on teams who were favored by 10 or more points averaged 9.77 fantasy points per game.

If that's not enough to win you over, the Seahawks' implied total of 27.25 is tied for the highest on the Week 1 slate.

Aside from the Vegas statistics, you also have the added benefit of selecting a reliable kicker in Hauschka, who made 94% of his kicks in 2015, tied for the best percentage of all kickers who had 30 or more field goal attempts. He also dominated by our advanced metrics.

Hauschka is the seventh-most expensive kicker on FanDuel at $4,800, making him a great play at the position.
