Which players from Week 1 helped put their team in the best position to succeed?

Quarterback: Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions
31 for 39, 340 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
2 rushes, 5 Yards
Performance: 97, NEP: +23.90

In a whirlwind of points down to the last second, Stafford and the Detroit Lions were able to squeak out a hard-fought win on the road against the Indianapolis Colts, 39-35. Stafford was on point throughout the game completing 79.5% of his passes for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. He led all quarterbacks with a 97 performance rating, per numberFire Live.

With the Colts' secondary missing Vontae Davis, Darius Butler, and Clayton Geathers, Stafford was able to work against soft secondary full of backups. He targeted new teammate Marvin Jones 10 times this week and was able to find his backs running freely against Indianapolis. Theo Riddick and Ameer Abdullah combined for 10 catches for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns, with both finishing among the top-seven running backs in points per reception (PPR) scoring.

Leading his offense down the field during a pivotal late fourth quarter drive with only 37 seconds left, Stafford was able to complete three straight passes to get his team in field goal territory for the game winner. Stafford's 26.1 fantasy points (in standard leagues) ranked fourth among all quarterbacks.
