The New England Patriots' running back usage tends to be very dependent on game flow. LeGarrette Blount averaged 16 carries per game in the nine games in which the Patriots were favored by at least 5 points in 2015, while averaging only 7 carries per game in the other three games. His usage also spiked when taking on weaker run defenses, averaging 7.33 carries per game in his three games against top-10 run defenses, compared to 15.89 attempts per game in his other nine contests.
Missing Tom Brady also seems to work in his favor, although it's a one-game sample, as he saw a huge 22 carries in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals
The Miami Dolphins aren't terrible against the run -- finishing 15th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play in 2015 -- but the Patriots are 6.5-point favorites this week, making this a nice spot for Blount, who could be in for a much bigger workload than you'll often see for a back at this price point.
