NFL
Market Share Report: Stefon Diggs' Breakout Is Here
In fantasy football, opportunity can give us more actionable information than results. Which players saw their opportunities change in Week 2 of the NFL season?

Red Zone Market Shares

1. Melvin Gordon Is a New Player

You already know that Danny Woodhead's season-ending injury had an effect on Melvin Gordon's fantasy stock. But Gordon's role was changing even before Woodhead went down.

With Woodhead healthy in Week 1, Gordon notched three carries inside the 20-yard line, only the third time in his career he had multiple red zone carries in a single game. After Woodhead's departure Sunday, Gordon notched a whopping eight carries inside the 20, giving him 11 on the season, equaling his total from all of last year. He's tied for second in the league for the most red zone carries through the first two weeks. It would seem safe to say he has earned the team's trust.

Gordon played 75% of the snaps in Week 2, a reflection of what will likely be a meaty role now that Woodhead is gone. He's getting carries in the red zone, and he doesn't figure to leave the field often, so Gordon's fantasy value may have inflated more than we can fully quantify at the moment.

2. Jordy Nelson Is Still a Force

Aaron Rodgers has attempted nine passes in the red zone this year. Five of them have gone Jordy Nelson's way, four of those have been caught, and two have resulted in touchdowns.

The other four passes? One reception for zero yards. Jordy's not going anywhere, y'all.

In Nelson's last full healthy season, he was targeted 25 times in the red zone, tied for the fourth-highest total in the league. He has a 29.0% market share overall through his first two games in 2016, so if the Green Bay Packers are able to generate enough scoring drives, Nelson should get the opportunities. You could try to buy in season-long before he has a monster game, and he should be on your DFS rosters when the Packers are in plus matchups.
