High-Cost Option: Le'Veon Bell ($7,500)
Le'Veon Bell's long awaited 2016 debut has the potential to see him go off against the Kansas City Chiefs while playing at home with the Pittsburgh Steelers as five-point favorites. Bell has been given the green light by the coaching staff to get as many touches as he can handle, which could spell trouble for the Chiefs. Bell has averaged 22.8 touches per game over the course of his career, and this game has sneaky shootout potential with both defenses playing poorly as of late. The Chiefs have allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs and 7th-most rushing yards, leaving Bell a viable option in both cash games and GPPs.
Mid-Cost Option: Melvin Gordon ($6,300)
Playing against a New Orleans Saints defense that is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing running backs, the most touchdowns, and the second-most rushing yards, Melvin Gordon could go off this week playing at home. Over the past two weeks, Gordon has seen more than 80 percent of the snaps and running back touches and now faces a defense that ranks last in schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP. Gordon has volume, efficiency, and game script (4.5-point home favorites) in his favor to be an anchor in cash games and tournaments alike.
Low-Cost Option: Carlos Hyde ($4,200)
Carlos Hyde has been an impressive runner to date this season, currently averaging 19.7 points per game and seeing 21.3 touches per game en route to a breakout campaign. Hyde has seen his price decline on DraftKings every single week this season, and his current cost of $4,200 makes him an almost must-play with the volume he's garnering. The Dallas Cowboys have held opposing running backs in check so far this season, allowing just one rushing touchdown to opposing running backs, but rank third-worst in red zone trips allowed to opposing offenses. According to 4for4's Chris Raybon, 86 percent of all rushing touchdowns occur inside the red zone. With San Francisco ranking top-12 in red zone trips per game, I'm playing the odds, expecting the 49ers to get in the red zone multiple times and letting Hyde smash value in Week 4.
Other Options: C.J. Anderson ($6,500), Spencer Ware ($5,700), Matt Jones ($4,300), Jordan Howard ($3,700)
