Now one quarter of the way through the fantasy-relevant portion of the NFL season, we find ourselves at an odd point in the year. Four games is still a small sample, yet there is enough data out there that we should feel like we can make educated decisions about the rest of the season.
Rough patches and slow starts happen to even the most accomplished and talented football players, and it's our job to differentiate between a fluky slow start and a sign of things to come.
In 2015, Brandin Cooks and Sammy Watkins were almost unstartable in the first half of the season before exploding down the stretch to lead many fake teams to championships. Doug Martin started his season with three straight games of single-digit fantasy performances before finishing as the RB3 in standard formats. Russell Wilson was a pretty average fantasy quarterback until Week 11, and then he didn't score less than 26 points in any week the rest of the season.
A slow start for a fantasy stud can be due to a myriad of factors, and identifying the right players to buy low on can be a big boon for your fantasy team.
Of course, buying low is never as easy as it sounds. Some managers are hesitatnt to give up on stars, even for a decent price, but it's always worth inquiring, especially if your opponent's record mirrors their star player's poor start.
Let's take a look at four fantasy studs we should be price checking right now.
