The Pittsburgh Steelers' loss of Martavis Bryant is now officially Sammie Coates' gain after Week 5.
Indeed, much like Bryant, Coates has the athletic profile that should make fantasy footballers drool. Here's a look at his measureables, per Player Profiler.
It seemed safe to assume that Coates' success wouldn't materialize after a mistake-filled preseason. Yet, in the past two weeks, Coates has really come on strong, solidifying his role as the number-two receiver in the high-powered Steelers' offense.
Over the past two weeks, Coates has garnered 19 targets -- including 11 in Week 5 -- turning those targets into 12 receptions for 218 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Moreover, his current 1.22 Reception NEP per target is otherworldly. If he continues with that kind of efficiency, he'd tie Jordy Nelson for the most efficient single season (2011) among wide receivers with at least 85 targets since 2000.
At this point, we can't say Coates is a must-start every week. But with his recent increase in targets, he is a must-own player who has the kind of upside to help you win weeks single-handedly.
