Perhaps it's the monster backfield, with stud Spencer Ware running wild and Jamaal Charles appearing to be working his way back to full speed, but Alex Smith continues to be underowned in fantasy leagues and Week 8 presents too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to face the Indianapolis Colts, who rank 10th in points allowed per game to opposing fantasy quarterbacks (22.8 points per game).
In addition, while the running game has been quite strong, the Chiefs rank 11th in the NFL in pass-to-run ratio, throwing on 62.5% of the plays. Smith only has two games in 2016 with fewer than 33 drop backs.
With expected high passing volume and an excellent opportunity for a big day in Indy, Smith makes for a strong play.
